KING WEST NEIGHBOURHOOD

There are few neighbourhoods in Toronto that have come as far as King West over the past few decades. But besides the street. What are people referring to when they drop “King West”.

King West is best described as two areas: The Entertainment District (between university and Spadina), and the Fashion District (between Spadina and Bathurst). The later often considered “Prime” King West.

The fashion district gets its name from the numerous textile and fabric factories and warehouses were located here in the early 20th century due to the proximity and easy access to shipping and rail lines. This neighbourhood has undergone considerable urban development and commercial revitalization since the early 2000’s. Today it is defined by trendy restaurants, design shops, and boutique condo developments. It is one of Toronto’s most quintessentially “cool” hoods.’

THINGS TO DO

Your day to day may involve grabbing a morning coffee at Jimmy’s Coffee or Portland Variety, hoping on the 504 King Streetcar down to the financial hub for work, and meeting up with friends for happy hour at one of King West’s many institutions – Lee’s Restaurant, Westlodge, or Cibo.

On the weekend King Street evolves from a neighbourhood to a entertainment hub, with rooftop lounges with pools to cool off in the summer, to various patio destinations to spend the afternoon. The neighbourhood is especially buzzing on the weekends.

Other hot spots in King West include:

Brasai for an elegant dining experience, Blowfish for some elevated sushi, Barchef for the perfect 1st date, Soma Chocolate to satisfy that sweet tooth, SPiN for some pong and music, and Baby Huey if you’re in you’re into SEND’ing it on Thursday!

There’s so much to do in King West that you could literally map out 1 new unique outing or venue every day for the next 365 days and never cross over!

If you choose to live in King West, you are most likely going to have your eyes on one of many “Soft Loft” developments with high ceilings and exposed concrete to more modern finishes, private Boutique buildings close to the action, and the occasional one-of-a-kind suite.

Because Black Card Real Estate lives and plays in King West, we understand the nuances of each building and love to show our clients only the best of the best!
